HBM3E price estimates
What HBM3E is said to cost per gigabyte, on long-term contract and on the spot market, as dated estimates quoted from the trade press with the sentence each came from.
What it measures#
What one gigabyte of HBM3E is said to cost, in US dollars, on two bases kept apart: the long-term contract price an accelerator maker pays, and the spot price a broker charges for immediate delivery. HBM3E is the high-bandwidth memory on the H200, the B200 and the accelerators of their generation, stacked beside the die, and it is the largest single memory cost in an AI server.
The two bases are not close. On 31 August 2026 the Seoul Economic Daily put a 36-gigabyte HBM3E product at $2,100 on the spot market and at 500,000 to 700,000 won on long-term contract, four to five times apart, which is why the site draws them as two series and never as one.
Every figure is an estimate with a sentence behind it and none is a print. The contract figures come from the trade press citing industry sources and analyst notes, and they disagree with each other by a third within a month, which is the honest width of what is known. Dollars per gigabit are converted at eight gigabits to the gigabyte and dollars per 36-gigabyte product at 36; the conversion is written on each entry.
How it is built#
By GPUQuant, as a log rather than a computation. HBM is sold on confidential long-term contracts between three makers and a handful of accelerator vendors, so there is no spot market anyone can read and no publisher of a daily figure. What exists in public is estimates: an analyst's note, a trade-press report citing industry sources, a figure a newspaper puts to a contract. Each entry here is one of those, recorded only where a public page carries the sentence that states it, with the publisher, the date and the sentence kept beside the figure.
Sources state dollars per gigabit, per gigabyte or per stack; every entry keeps the figure as stated and converts it to dollars per gigabyte for the chart, with the arithmetic written down on the entry. A range is drawn at its midpoint and shown in full in the table. Spot, long-term contract and forecast are kept apart, because they are three different prices for the same part, and a forecast is listed but never drawn.
