Advanced-node DRAM mass production
Micron makes DRAM at Hiroshima on its 1-beta node, and says it has started shipping 1-beta-based LPDDR5X memory made there to industrial, automotive and consumer customers across Asia, the U.S. and Europe. Micron says it will be the first semiconductor company to bring EUV technology to Japan for production, with the Hiroshima fab playing a critical role in developing its 1-gamma node. It broke ground on a new cleanroom at the site in July 2026 and calls the project the largest cleanroom expansion at its Hiroshima base since it acquired Elpida Memory in 2013, with a first construction phase of about 300,000 square feet (about 28,000 square metres) and production equipment move-in planned for the second half of 2028.
