## What it measures

The Ornn Compute Price Index for the H100 SXM: a volume-weighted, winsorized average of the prices H100 rentals actually cleared at, normalized across configuration, provider and region, in US dollars per GPU-hour, settled once a day by 20:00 UTC. It is the transacted view of the market that GPUQuant’s reference describes from the price list and Silicon Data’s index describes from a model, and it is carried on the Bloomberg Terminal.

Expect the list price on top, this figure below it, and the modelled index lowest, and expect the order to hold. When it does not, something has changed: a transacted figure rising toward list means capacity is tight and discounts have gone.

## How it is built

By Ornn, from the prices GPU rentals actually cleared at. In Ornn's own words the index is a volume-weighted, winsorized average of transacted GPU rental prices, normalized across configuration, provider and region, and settled once a day. Winsorizing clips the extreme observations rather than dropping them, so a single outlying deal cannot move the day's figure. Ornn publish the method at [data.ornn.com/methodology](https://data.ornn.com/methodology).

It is the transacted view of the same market that GPUQuant's references describe from the price list and Silicon Data's indices describe from a model; how the three kinds of number differ is on [Price indices, compared](https://gpuquant.com/docs/price-indices).

## What GPUQuant shows

The trailing **92 days**, which is what Ornn's public endpoint serves without a key, read at each regeneration of the page and never stored, with Ornn's written permission and Ornn named as the source on the chart. Nothing is redistributed and no derived index is built from it.

## Reading it beside the others

- [H100 reference price](https://gpuquant.com/docs/market-data/h100-reference-price): The hyperscaler list price of one H100-hour, the ceiling of the market.
- [H100 neocloud index](https://gpuquant.com/docs/market-data/h100-neocloud-index): The list price of the same hour on the specialist clouds, roughly a third of the hyperscaler figure.
- [Silicon Data H100 index](https://gpuquant.com/docs/market-data/silicon-data-h100-index): Silicon Data's modelled figure, which counts negotiated and committed-use deals and sits below any list price.
