# GDDR chip spot prices

> The spot price of a GDDR6 and a GDDR5 8Gb chip, updated roughly monthly by DRAMeXchange, and why GDDR6X and GDDR7 have no row.

## What it measures

The spot price of one graphics-memory chip, in US dollars, for the two parts DRAMeXchange quotes: a GDDR6 8Gb chip, the memory on most consumer and workstation graphics cards, and the GDDR5 8Gb chip of the generation before it. The publisher updates the pair roughly monthly rather than daily, and each reading is dated by the table’s own stamp.

GDDR6X and GDDR7 have no public price anywhere. DRAMeXchange’s public table stops at GDDR6, and the distributors that list GDDR7 parts do not allow their prices to be displayed without approval, so there is no row for either. The Silicon Data RAM index, a weighted basket of GDDR6 products, is the modelled figure for the same memory and is shown today.

Nothing is shown yet from this table. TrendForce, which publishes DRAMeXchange, has been asked for written consent to display it.

## How it is built

By DRAMeXchange, TrendForce's memory price service, which publishes a session average, high and low for each part from the day's trading among vendors, OEMs, system integrators, module makers and brokers. GPUQuant reads the session average from the table on DRAMeXchange's public page, dates each row by that table's own stamp, and never computes anything from it: a spot print is quoted as published, per chip or per module, in dollars.

The history comes from the Internet Archive, which holds the page with the table intact on about 1,300 distinct days since 2019, read through the same parser as the live page. The publisher's item names have changed over that time and each series matches every name it has carried; a name the catalog does not know is dropped and reported rather than guessed at.
